U.S. - Boston City Guide
Nestled on the spot where the Charles River flows into the Massachusetts Bay, Boston is a city of contradictions. One popular image of Boston is the home of tough, hard-working Irish-Americans, a no-nonsense town that takes pride in its heritage and its harsh winters. The other side of Boston is pure upper-crust: Harvard University, the Kennedys and old money. It's exactly this mix of wealth and work, of the contemporary and the historical, that makes up the unique flavor of Boston. Whether browsing the trendy shops on Newbury Street or following the birth of the nation along the Freedom Trail, your discoveries in this one-of-a-kind city will have you agreeing with the author who once called Boston "the hub of the solar system", and this guide can help you get around the city like a local.

Chicago City Guide
For over a century, Chicago was known as the "Second City", second only to New York in size and prosperity. Though other cities have surpassed its size, this Midwestern metropolis has nevertheless evolved into a world-class center of commerce and culture. While nine million people reside in the Metro area, only about 3 million of those actually reside in the city. As a result, Chicago has all of the services, sights and sophistication of many larger cities, without the same level of crowds and congestion that usually follow. Situated on the shores of Lake Michigan, downtown Chicago is fairly compact and easy to get around. The central hub of the city is called the Loop, for the subways and elevated trains that loop the area. Downtown and the Near North Side is where you'll find many of the city's major hotels, restaurants and hot spots, including the incredible architecture that is an attraction in itself. The outlying suburbs offer everything from historic homes on tranquil, tree-lined streets to energetic ethnic neighborhoods featuring their own unique sights, shops and dining. Listen to this audio guide to learn the pertinent information about the "windy city".

Crested Butte

Heart Beat Guides Crested Butte Ski
Crested Butte, Colorado… Butch Cassidy was chased out of town but left his gun behind in Kochevar’s Bar. It’s a venerable drinking and eating place among dozens of cool places to chill out after a hectic day on the snow. The town is a National Historic District so no visual pollution. Elk Avenue is the main street and full of attractive shops, bars and restaurants. The mountain itself stands free – so earns the name “butte”. It comes close to being an American “Matterhorn”. The mountain resort starts at 9,500 feet. There’s a 3,000 foot vertical. Back country skiing is patrolled so Crested Butte has a large amount of double-black runs serviced by lifts. Crested Butte works big with intermediates too and never-evers. Evening time you can take snow cat dinner rides, horse drawn trips for cowboy evenings. Dog-sledding, paragliding, horseback riding, hot-air ballooning, snowmobiling. Plenty for the non-skier. Irwin Lodge – a remarkable back-country experience, which averages 650” of snow a year. Snowcat powder skiing is amazing. You climb the mountain in a fleet of snowcats. Powerhouse Grill is a quality Mexican restaurant. Idle Spur is a friendly and buzzing micro-brewery and bar.

Detroit City Guide
Known for both its industry and its music, Detroit is seen today as a city that is revitalizing its older image. Detroit takes its name from the French word for "the strait", meaning the narrow river that separates the city from its Canadian neighbor across the way, Windsor, Ontario. Detroit has earned the reputation of a town with a strong work ethic. The "Motor City" still produces about a quarter of the nation's automobiles, is a major steel producer and remains one of the busiest ports on the Great Lakes. The city spreads out inland, with the downtown area being just one section among a number of diverse suburbs. In Detroit, you'll find a lively cultural scene flourishing in a town that looks toward the future while remembering its past, and this guide can help you get around the like a seasoned traveler.
